This property has been termed ‘breathability’ because excess water in masonry and plastered walls can pass through the plaster and paint coating which will avoid the problems associated with damp in walls.

Ikalika Paint Application:

​

● No primer is required.

● Wet down the walls with water.

● Allow the surface to dry out (2-3 hours),

● Mix Ikalika Paint well before use and apply the first coat of Ikalika Paint with a coarse brush or roller.

● Up to three coats may be necessary.

● Allow at least 2-3 hours between coats and 36 hours before exposure to water.

● All tools should be cleaned with water immediately after use.

 

NOTE

● For construction in the rainy season, ensure sufficient protection against rain and cold weather.

● Avoid applying paint at temperatures below 5C.

● Protect from direct rain and wind during 36 hours after application.

● Best performance could be achieved at temperatures between 12 °C - 27 °C.

 

Ikalika Paint COVERAGE

 

● A 20 Liter drum typically covers 3-4 m2 per liter for the first coat, depending on the surface porosity.

● For the second and subsequent coats if required, the coverage is typically 5m2 per ℓ.
